Rebecca Jo Loeb
The American mezzo-soprano Rebecca Jo Loeb, who was studying at the Juilliard School in New York, was an ensemble member at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in season 2015/16 where she was singing roles like Ines (Il trovatore), 2. Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Annina (La traviata), Alkmene (Die Liebe der Danae), 2. Magd (Elektra), Mercédès (Carmen) or Clotilde (Norma). From 2011-15 she was an ensemble member at the Hamburgische Staatsoper.
Other notable roles include Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), Siebel (Faust), Blumenmädchen (Parsifal), Prinz Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Kate Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Meg Page (Falstaff), Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor), Fjodor (Boris Godunow), Bellante (Almira), Bessi (Mahagonny Songspiel) or Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel).
Other engagements led her to perform at the Glimmerglass Opera, at the Teatro Regio di Torino, at the Dallas Opera, at the Festwochen der Alten Musik in Innsbruck, at the Kurt-Weill-Festival Dessau or at the Ravinia Music Festival.
In summer 2012 she made her debut at the Festival Aix-en-Provence in the premiere of George Benjamin’s „Written on Skin“ as Marie and Angel 2. In June 2015 she made her debut as Gymnasiast and Groom in „Lulu“ at the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam as well as covering these roles at the Metropolitan Opera.
Highlights in 2016/17: “La traviata” and “Rusalka” at the Metropolitan Opera, “Die sieben Todsünden” with the Aachen Symphony or guest engagements an the Paris Opera, at the New York City Merkin Hall or in Washington DC.
