Bernadette Bartos

Bernadette Bartos studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she finished her concert exam with Heinz Medjimorec and Stephan Möller in June 2010 with a Master’s degree, concert exam. In 2010/2011 she did postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Music with Roger Vignoles and Simon Lepper.

Bernadette Bartos made her debut at the Großer Saal, Wiener Musikverein, with Beethoven’s piano concert Nr. 3, in c-minor in March 1999. Concert performances as a soloist, chamber musician and Lied accompanist have taken Bernadette throughout Slovenia, Slovakia, France, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy and Uruguay. She has performed at festivals such as the International Musicfestival in Brive, (France), the Austrian cultural festival in Marcq en Baroeul (France), Carinthischer Sommer in Ossiach, Kulturkreis Niederfellabrunn, „Liszt Fenster" in Eisenstadt, and the Salzkammergut Festwochen in Gmunden (Austria).

With violinist, Noëlle Grüebler she won the Gwyneth George Award of the Beethoven Society of Europe in Mai 2012. In September 2012 Wolfgang Holzmair and Bernadette Bartos recorded Lieder by Benedict Randhartinger. Their collaboration was published by Gramola and released in March 2013. Since October 2012 she has been playing in Lied-Classes at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. In October 2013 baritone, Matthias Winckhler, and Bernadette won an exeptional prize at the International Schubert Competition Dortmund.

She often performs chamber music with her husband, violinist Josef Herzer.

Naxos will release 2020 Beethoven Lieder with singers Daniel Johannsen, Georg Klimbacher and others, as well as Welsh and Scottish folk songs for voice and piano trio.
